International Animation Growth vs. Indian Animation Growth

Animation Industry Growth

The animation industry is growing tremendously in the International space and India. This is attributed to the increasing demand for animation projects across the world. Due to easy access to technology, animation is now available to the masses and it has become one of the fastest-growing industries in the globe. India is fast becoming an influential hub for outsourcing animation production services. In addition, it is also developing a lucrative domestic market for viewers at a very high rate.

Animation companies in India have significantly benefited from global animation giants such as Sony, Warner Brothers, Imax, and Disney since they are outsourcing their special effects and animation characters to Indian firms. The ever-increasing demand for outsourcing across the world has led to the establishment of many animation companies in India. These companies are setting up hubs in major cities such as Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Bangalore.

India is attractive as an animation hub because of high-quality software engineers, good studios, low costs, a large pool of creative talent, and the presence of an English-speaking workforce. Many multinational companies and production studios are continuously exploiting the low-cost production that India offers. Animation companies in India are also creating skilled manpower through the provision of various training programs. This means that the Indian animation industry will continue growing in line with the international bloom being experienced today.

The rapid growth of the animation industry in India and internationally is attributed to the development of new animation software and technologies. The market growth is influenced by multi-industrial applications, the thriving entertainment industry, the availability of animation merchandise, and favorable government regulations. Additionally, the availability of cheaper internet connectivity and low-cost hardware has also resulted in the production of free software downloads.

The Indian animation industry is also blooming owing to the presence of good studios. India is considered to be the second-largest entertainment industry just after Hollywood. Most animation studios in the country offer a large supply of high-quality and low-cost software engineers.  Indian animation companies have established high-tech studios that are equipped with the necessary cutting-edge software and hardware to handle different overseas projects.

Both the global and Indian animation industry has experienced tremendous growth over the last few years and this is not stopping any time soon.  India is emerging to be a preferred outsourcing destination for many Western animation companies and it is developing and showcasing its own potential and capabilities. This sector has tremendous potential owing to the availability of talented and affordable expertise and the emergence of different industry-related companies and organizations.

Why Animation Career is Not Suitable for Everyone?

2d animation company

Animation experts are everywhere and their work involves the creation of special effects, animations, and other types of visual images using electronic tools like computers for creations and products. They do commercials, special effects, motion graphics, medical explanations, online advertisements, and reconstructing crime scenes for forensic purposes. They can also design animated graphics for websites, create virtual tours for model homes and building architecture, and produce military practice simulations. However, an animation career is not for everyone. Therefore, in such a competitive and specialized field, you need to be confident that you have all it takes to succeed in this career before you invest your energy and time in pursuing it.

Innate abilities

Animation is not an easy career and not everyone can succeed in it. It is a long and tedious process for many people than what is generally perceived. People need to know that animation is a blend of both science and art. Therefore, for you to thrive in this career path, you need to have an artistic eye and you should also enjoy breaking down things to determine how they work. This means that you need to determine the innate qualities that will enable you to pursue this animation career. By knowing your expertise and skills well in advance, you will avoid wasting your effort and time if animation is not the right fit for you.

Be extremely observant

Successful animators have an observant eye and they have the drive to continually enhance the way they observe space and form. When it comes to animation, the traditional techniques in the education process are very important. Successful animators must have an unmatched understanding of forms in 3D space irrespective of whether they will be transferring that digitally or manually. If one is not extremely observant in their work, one may not produce the best results and may end up feeling inadequate or less creative.

Creativity and patience

Animators need to be extremely creative given the dynamic nature of the world today. In addition, they should have the patience to handle their projects well and produce the best results. A lot of planning is needed for every project and this will determine whether your animations will be cringe-worthy or pleasing to your audience.

Bringing dynamic images to life is quite exciting for many people. However, a career in animation is not a walk in the park as many people presume. Animators usually work for long hours and this includes weekends and nights because they must adhere to strict project deadlines. However, if you are passionate about animation and you are determined to succeed, then you should not be discouraged by the fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

The Film production studios also need animators for full-on animated films and special effects or CGI for live-action movies. There are also increasing jobs in the technical and scientific fields.

Outsourcing of work

Big international companies and studios such as Walt Disney, Sony Pictures, Pixar, and Turner Entertainment are now offshoring the development of their animation content to other countries. This means that many off-shore production houses and animation studios are now jam-packed with work that is outsourced from abroad and also handle their own in-house projects. Animators can also find work online because of the increasing need for great engaging and converting content. This means that there is an increasing talent crunch in the industry and people are needed to fill up these vacancies.

The opportunity, demands, technology, and importance of Animation in Today World are growing.

ToonBoom vs TV Paint Animation: Prayan Animation

ToonBoom vs TV Paint Animation

I think it comes down to preference in most cases. I am sure each program has its special features and such, but when doing traditional hand-drawn animation, all the specials are not really needed. When I was in college (computer animation) we had to take several traditional animation classes as well, and the college I attended had ToonBoom. It was a great program and worked very well for what we needed it to do. I personally have not tried Harmony or TV paint, but like I said ToonBoom worked beautifully.

Harmony Essentials does NOT offer any bitmap painting tools – only vector tools. Harmony Advanced and Premium have bitmap painting tools, however, and quite painterly drawing is possible.

Harmony is not only a digital puppet animation app – it does far more than that. You can animate traditional frame by frame and combine these techniques with digital puppets.

TV Paint does have more natural feeling media tools, though. It’s a bit like comparing Photoshop to Painter. It depends on how far you want or need to go with more a simulated natural media approach of drawing and painting. TV Paint focuses solely on bitmap-based (mostly frame-by-frame) animation while you can definitely do traditional hand-painted work in ToonBoom. It has a good combination of vector and bitmap layers and brushes. For example, in ToonBoom you can have a brush with a bitmap texture and color it in with a vector layer.

Krita, for example, also supports frame-by-frame animation and has much more powerful bitmap drawing and painting tools compared to Harmony. So do ClipStudio EX, and the latest version of OpenToonz integrates the MyPaint bitmap brush engine, which is arguably more advanced than Harmony features.

It is also possible to combine the strengths of two or more animation applications. If you need more painterly animated background drawings, you might decide to do those in TV Paint or Krita, and then export the animation as an image sequence for import into Toonboom Harmony, and use the vector tools in Harmony to do other parts of the animation.

Anyway, it is best to not focus too much on the software, and rather define what you actually need for the execution of your animation. My animation toolkit consists of a number of apps to do what I want – not just one. Stop worrying about the software.

How Animation can make Learning Interesting?

How animation can make learning interesting

Animations have made learning more exciting and full of enjoyment. Getting knowledge these days is not glued to reading books and writing with pens as it used to be in the recent past. It has taken a completely different turn. There are no longer boring long class lessons as cartoons are exciting and informative.

Below are the advantages of using animation in learning:

It has improved communication

The use of caricature has become an excellent way to motivate students to communicate stories. Not every student can be able to communicate using a pen and a book. It encourages creativity among those students who cannot express themselves well through writing. Many learners can concentrate more on animated videos than reading books. Therefore, animation has brought a lot of creativity and improved communication skills to many learners who could otherwise not make it.

It brings interaction

Imagery is a brilliant tool to bring students together across the border. Learners share funny videos through websites with their peers and friends in the classroom or outside the school, and this brings interaction among them. With the fact that animation removes language barriers, students across the world understand each other better, and this brings social ties. Learning, therefore, becomes more interesting as learners from all over the world learn from each other.

It improves presentation skills

Something interesting about picture representation is that it helps someone develop excellent presentation skills. From the examples they see in animation videos, they get encouraged to work harder and harder to stand in front of others and present fantastic work, create slides, and even explain concepts with a lot of originality and excellent skills. This helps learners in their future careers.

Self-expression

Animations greatly help those learners who don’t have artistic skills. Drawing is delightful, but not everybody can draw. The good thing with animations is that readily drawn characters are put in ready-made environments in which learners can learn while still having the ability to art for those who have great artistic skills. Therefore, the learners who could not have expressed themselves using drawings can benefit from animations, and this makes it very interesting for learners.

Enhanced e-learning experience

The most important thing here is fun. Animations in learning are more engaging and motivating too. Online learners track their own time, and most of the time they need encouragement from educators. The problem is that these educators don’t find time for all the students. What they do is use animated videos to encourage the students while marinating academic excellence.

Accessibility for the users

Online learners find e-learning very interactive and more effective. The rate of learning can be controlled in eLearning, and also learners can change the animated graphics to view the effects on them. This enables learners to get information on their mobile phones.

Demonstrating the subject visually

E-learning allows educators to demonstrate subjects visually. If something like a procedure is being demonstrated, educators will just demonstrate the progress in the whole process. The learners also have an opportunity to rewind the process halfway or pause it even when required. This makes the learning process very effective.

Explains large content within a short time

ELearning economizes the time needed to teach learners. E-learning enables learners to be taught large content within a short time. This, therefore, saves time for the students and save financial resources for the learners.

Powerful learning mechanism

E-learning makes it easy for learners to understand complex subjects easily as the learning process is multi-sensory. It involves images, visuals, narratives, and much more. This powerful learning mechanism helps the learners retain what they were taught for a long.

Large English-speaking workforce

The diversification of the workforce in India has seen many animation professionals troop into the country. This is essential and necessary as it has helped improve the number of English-speaking workforces, a requirement that is vital for the animation industry. Professionals from across the world have moved to India, and this has benefited the animation industry as these workers can produce quality animation videos and designs, both in 2D and 3D.

5 Tips for Making Great Animations for 2D Games

5 tips for making great animations for 2D games

Ever since animation acquired the power to attract much attention, many animation and game designers usually strive to keep up-to-date with more sophisticated and trending animation and game designs. However, in order to achieve the best and make great animations, especially for 2D games, you have to consider some important aspects of importance concerning the same.

First and foremost, push the animation to the limit. In order for the animation to be more interesting, the designer has to use the extremes and this means embroidery and attractions without forgetting to think about the possible reaction from other people and ensure their limit is achieved. Additionally, if the animation uses real expressions and movements, it has fewer chances of succeeding since people are familiar with these moves and definitely will not be impressed. Intense animations will draw much attention and will have higher chances of succeeding.

Secondly, make everything in the animation effervescent and feel lively.  The animation should not appear as if they are stiff and made up of autonomous moving parts.  Even if the animation is as simple as drinking water, strive to make the hand look like it is picking up the cup and taking it toward the mouth. However, the main idea is that your animation should seem moving even if it is at a standstill and this can be achieved by adding some bounce to the character to make it give the impression that it is alive and kicking.

To add that, for the animation to be perfect, they have to contain strong keyframes. When animating your sprites, you should ensure that they have strong and extreme keyframes that depict a particular movement. To add on that, for the animation to be best, the sprites should also be in order according to the stated move.

Furthermore, to ensure that you get a good one, you should limit the animation keyframes. Even though sometimes most animators exaggerate the specified animation to achieve a visible move, some designers tend to over-exaggerate and therefore make the animation lose its desired meaning. It is however advisable to use a limited number of frames but boldly highlight the important moves.

Last but not least, do not give much care and attention to the craft. Many 2D game designers usually pay too much attention about the craft and end up losing sight over the entire content. However, great care is supposed to be directed to the whole image and take much care of what it transmits and also the message it posts to the viewer.
