4th August: International Clouded Leopard Day
On August 4th, International Clouded Leopard Day promotes awareness of the clouded leopard’s situation. The clouded leopard, both in the wild and in captivity, requires our assistance to preserve and enhance its population.
These lovely and quiet species live in Central and South East Asia. The Clouded Leopard (Neofelis nebulosi), sometimes known as the Asian mainland Clouded leopard, is indigenous to Asia. The Sunda Clouded leopard (Neofelis diardi) is found on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra.
International Clouded Leopard Day’s objective is to raise awareness and unite conservation thinking amongst zoological collections, charities, NGOs, businesses and all those with an interest in one of the world`s most beautiful and iconic cats, the Clouded leopard. Every species on earth has its own unique role to play in maintaining an over-arching ecological balance both in life and in nature.
