7th November: Men Make Dinner Day

National Men Make Dinner Day on the first Thursday in November places the man of the house in charge of the kitchen and the evening’s meal.

This day was created for the men who do not know their way around the kitchen and are not familiar with cooking appliances, as well as for the women in their lives who need a break.

They worked to keep the house in order and running, it’s not surprising that while the tradition of the wife making dinner has persisted, most of the time it’s as part of a two-earner household.

It’s time to start turning that around, and Men Make Dinner Day is just one small step on equally sharing the responsibilities of making a home and life together.

Besides, some of the world’s greatest chefs are men, so there certainly isn’t any standing evidence that men are just worse cooks. Men Make Dinner Day is your chance to try out your culinary skills… just remember that ordering take-out isn’t actually ‘making dinner’ boys.

Men need to be aware that there is a list of rules that must be followed, some of which include:

• The main meal must include a minimum of 4 ingredients and require at least one cooking utensil other than a fork.
• The man goes shopping for all the necessary ingredients.
• Clean up as you go

There are a few rules for celebrating Men Make Dinner day, and they start with no barbecuing. They then follow by not permitting reheating left-overs or ordering pizza. Men Make Dinner Day is a day for men to get into the kitchen and learn the (not so) arcane art of preparing amazing meals.
