August 10: World Lions Day 2021
World Lions Day is observed on August 10 every year to draw attention to lions, kings of the forest, and majestic wildlife hunters. This day, created by Big Cat Rescue, honours the world’s most beautiful and terrifying animal kingdom.
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, lions are an “endangered” species, which means that their numbers can and should be higher. There are between 30,000 and 100,000 lions on the planet. Without significant intervention, they are likely to be added to the endangered species list alongside other species.
